Remove Ads Read Only News According to officials, tribal students took out a six kilometer march from the university campus to the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) secretariat. They crossed the barrier and entered the meeting hall. Officials said the protesters vandalized the parish building and damaged chairs and other furniture. He said that additional security forces have been dispatched to the location, but tension remains in the area. It turns out to be challenging to get control. The state cabinet on Wednesday approved the Group of Ministers (GoM) report on the proposal to grant scheduled tribe status to six major communities of Assam, namely Tai Ahom, Chutiya, Moran, Motok, Koch-Rajbongshi and Tea Tribes (Adivasi). Students of the University of Bodoland also demonstrated on the campus on Thursday in protest against the cabinet decision. The final examination of the third semester was also boycotted.
