Public bus service has come to a standstill in Jaipur, see footage of 100 low-floor buses stopped, more than 50 thousand passengers upset.

The capital’s public transport system was thrown into disarray again on Wednesday when bus drivers from a private firm called Paras Travels went on strike. About 100 low-floor buses based at Bagrana depot of JCTSL, operated by this firm, were off the roads. As a result, city office employees, school students, patients and ordinary travelers were all affected. Bus service has stopped – what is the reason? Managers and conductors alleged that Paras Travels was constantly violating labor laws. They say that the buses are not maintained, salaries and overtime are not paid, and proper compensation and security are not provided to the families of the deceased or injured employees and themselves. With these demands he suddenly started a strike. Only 7–8 buses could operate from the depot – whereas usually around 100–100 buses are in operation daily. As a result, the movement of lakhs of daily commuters from the city came to a standstill. Many candidates, employees, patients depended on private vehicles, cars or expensive taxis. Affected routes and day-to-day problems: Buses were not found on the advisory routes — like Tonk Road, Sanganer, Vidyadhar Nagar, Jhotwara, Railway Station, etc. There were long queues at many bus stops in the morning and evening, but people were seen upset due to the non-arrival of buses. Some were delayed even for office, check-up or hospital appointments. According to a report, more than 50 thousand passengers faced problems on Tuesday-Wednesday alone due to the strike. Drivers collapse, bus service restored. However, after late-night talks, an agreement was reached between Paras Travels and the drivers’ union. The company accepted their major demands – salaries, ESI/PF, overtime, compensation to the family of the deceased driver, accident insurance, etc. After this, the drivers called off the strike and the buses were put back into operation.
