Rano said that initially the term was born without a clear concept and only because he was known as a figure in the film industry. As soon as I sat down, I saw the words ‘Jakarta City of Cinema’ on the big screen. I was shocked, it turned out that Jakarta had the concept of becoming a City of Cinema,” said Rano. However, Rano’s admiration turned to surprise when he asked the head of the DKI Jakarta Tourism and Culture Service about the meaning behind the slogan. Because the relevant department initially admitted that they did not know about the origin of the tagline ‘Jakarta City of Cinema’. “I called the Department of Tourism. I asked, ‘Eh, you have the tagline Jakarta City of Cinema, what’s the concept?’. They replied, ‘We don’t know, sir.’ I asked again, ‘Well, why use that tagline?’. “He replied, ‘Yes, because the deputy governor is a film person, sir,'” he said. Rano also insisted that the concept become real rather than just a slogan. He asked the parties concerned to have a clear concept. “I think it has to be real. Don’t just make up a slogan because I happen to be Si Doel. If you want to be called Cinema City, you must have a clear base and direction,” he emphasized. After officially serving as deputy governor of Jakarta, Rano began to investigate the potential of Jakarta’s film industry and discovered that this city has great strength.
