Vice Chancellor may be reappointed in Allahabad University. In this regard, the proposal made by the Executive Council in 2010 to increase the auditor age of the Vice-Chancellor from 65 to 70 years and for re-appointment has now been approved by the Visitor and President of the University. A notification signed by Registrar Ashish Khare was also issued regarding the amendment made in clause (4) of Statute 2 of the University Act-2005. This amendment came into force by a notification published in the Gazette of India on 27 November 2025. According to the notification signed by Registrar Ashish Khare, the Executive Council of Allahabad University approved a proposal on 17 April 2010 to increase the pensionable age of the Vice-Chancellor from 65 to 70 years and add the appointment for re-appointment. The amendment was confirmed by the current Vice-Chancellor of Allahabad University, Prof. Sangeeta Srivastava accepted the charge on November 30, 2020. His term of office ended on 29 November 2025. In such a situation, he got the extension only on the basis of the notification issued on 27 November. IVI’s Public Relations Officer, prof. Jaya Kapoor, said that the university has received confirmation of amendment in Statue Two (four). After amendment, under Statute 2, the Vice-Chancellor has been reappointed for a period of five years from the date of his assumption of office or until he attains the age of seventy years, whichever is earlier.
