Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also attended the function organized on the eve of the commencement of the 20th conference of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee on Intangible Cultural Heritage held at the Red Fort. On this occasion he highlighted the 3000 years of continuous living civilization of this city from Indraprastha to modern Delhi. Said that together with the International Delegates Conference, feel the soul of Delhi, its colors and its flavor. At the ceremony, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Jaishankar, joined by Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, the Director General of UNESCO, Dr Khalid Al Enani, and India’s Permanent Representative to UNESCO Vishal V. India’s cultural heritage is one of the richest in the world. The Chief Minister said that India’s intangible cultural heritage is one of the richest heritages in the world. From the Vedas, Upanishads, Yoga to our festivals, rituals and performing arts that celebrate nature, seasons, harvests and harmony, India has always believed that culture lives not in museums but in the lives of people. The Chief Minister said that, when the world today is going through rapid modernization, climate change, migration and digital transformations, the preservation of intangible heritage has become all the more important. He noted that in recent years, India has laid special emphasis on promoting its traditional knowledge systems, cultural practices and festivals on the global platform. This effort is in line with the visionary vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in which strengthening the cultural roots and traditions of India is the top priority.
