In search of claimants for these accounts that have been inactive for years, banks often send letters to the addresses of the account holders. When no claimant comes, even after continuously sending letters, the bank sends the amount in the said account to the Reserve Bank of India. Now a campaign has been started to look for claimants of such accounts by setting up camps. State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC) convener, Bank of Baroda Lucknow Zonal Head, Shailendra Kumar Singh, while giving information about the campaign on Friday, said that this campaign will be conducted at the national level from October 1 to December 31. Camps were organized in Mathura on October 15 and in Aligarh on October 17. In the third phase of the campaign starting from November 1, camps will be organized in Barabanki, Firozabad, Gonda, Hardoi, Kheri, Kushinagar, Mau, Mirzapur, Shahjahanpur, Sitapur, Sonbhadra and Sultanpur districts. It is worth noting that on the instructions of RBI, a financial literacy campaign has been going on in the state since July 1, in which people, along with the activation of the inactive accounts, are given information about the withdrawal of the money deposited in the inactive accounts (def accounts) for more than ten years. This campaign runs until October 31st. Camps were organized under this campaign in 57,607 panchayats. The list of unclaimed financial assets will be available in the camps. SLBC Coordinator said that the list of unclaimed bank deposits, shares, dividends, mutual funds, insurance claims etc. will be available in these camps. Along with banks, representatives of all other financial institutions will be present on site. If any person feels that he or someone in his family may have unclaimed financial assets, he can get information by giving his name and address at the camp. If your name is found in the list, you will be able to claim payment by filling out the form on the spot. Along with the form, a copy of Aadhaar, passport or such other documents will have to be given to identify the name and address. If there are several claimants to a financial asset, they can claim it by mutual consent. Disputed financial assets can only be claimed through legal process.
