On another occasion, the head of Teluk Kabung Tengah Village, Febri Yeni, expressed his appreciation for PLN’s concern for its residents. He assessed that the assistance provided not only provided physical light, but also became a symbol of the state’s attention to coastal areas. “On behalf of the government and residents, I express my highest appreciation to PLN for the ‘Sharing Light, Growing Hope’ program. This assistance to provide electricity through free connections not only eases the burden but also opens up access to decent basic services, from lighting, learning for children at home, to small economic activities for residents,” he said. Febri hopes that programs like this will not stop here. He wants more and more families in his area to experience new happiness and enthusiasm as their homes are lit independently by electricity. The ‘Sharing Light, Growing Hope’ program held on the occasion of the 80th National Electricity Day (HLN) was a true manifestation of the spirit of sharing and social care of all PLN employees. Through this initiative, PLN provides free electricity connections to underprivileged communities that are not properly connected to electricity. PLN’s director of risk management, Adi Lumakso, said that the program, which targets more than 8,000 households throughout Indonesia, is not only limited to turning on electricity, but is a manifestation of PLN’s responsibility to provide fair energy to all people. “At this HLN moment, PLN wants to provide more than just light. We want to ensure that electric light also brings new enthusiasm and hope to the community, opens up economic opportunities and improves the quality of life,” said Adi. Adi added that the success of this program cannot be separated from collaboration with various stakeholders and community support which ensures that every electricity connection is distributed safely and on target. General Manager of PLN’s West Sumatra Main Distribution Unit, Ajrun Karim, said that this program is a form of PLN’s commitment to bring social and economic change in society thanks to energy access. “Each resident who received assistance has new hope to live a better life. Children can study comfortably, the family economy grows slowly as business opportunities become more open after the arrival of electricity,” concluded Ajrun. (prf/ega)
