He asked for the widening of the road around the place. He also hopes that this public transport can be introduced to clear up traffic jams. “The widening of the road is also regulated. Public transport that likes to pick up randomly, and motorbike taxi drivers that like to park in front of the station entrance,” he said. Another resident, Adil (30), asked that the public transport be put in order. According to him, angkot vehicles that stop and create traffic jams are also dangerous for motorists crossing the intersection. “Yes, we want it to be regulated. It causes traffic jams. There is also a danger if it gets stuck on the tracks from Citayam there,” said Adil. Adil also requested that the public transport be arranged and provided with a place to meet it. He also called for damaged public transport to be repaired. “Give us a place to meet, arrange it so that it does not disturb those of us who want to pass by. Then the public transport is also repaired. Sometimes it does not have a registration number or the body is just as bad,” he concluded. Pakistan’s Economy Deteriorated Due to Internal Corruption: Report

Pakistan’s Economy Deteriorated Due to Internal Corruption: Report

New Delhi, November 26 (IANS). In a recent report released by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), it was said that the poor economic condition of Pakistan is due to internal failures. There is no contribution of external pressure in this. Information given on the website of the neighboring country’s English newspaper Pakistan Observer said that corruption, weak institutions and selfishness of powerful people at the local level have driven the country into economic misery. According to the IMF, corruption affects almost every level of governance in Pakistan. Policy making is often controlled by influential groups who use government institutions for personal gain. The report said that there is no proper system to measure corruption in Pakistan. The National Accountability Bureau there has recovered Rs 5,300 billion in the last two years. IMF says that this figure is much smaller than the real one. This shows how far the roots of corruption have spread in Pakistan. According to the report, ordinary people have to face corruption almost every day in their daily life, due to which the trust of the ordinary people in government institutions decreases. IMF explained Pakistan’s situation through the 2019 sugar crisis. Where influential business networks hoarded sugar, inflated prices and transferred billions of dollars through fake accounts, while the government did nothing to stop them. Apart from such scandals, the IMF report highlights deeper structural issues such as complex tax systems, poor financial management, opaque government procurement processes and poor performance of public institutions. If Pakistan implements serious administrative reforms, it can register GDP growth of more than 5 to 6.5 percent in the next five years. The IMF report also states that corruption is not a new thing in Pakistan. Both civilian and military governments have promised reforms, but have also created new forms of abuse. –IANS ABS/ Share this story Tags
