Jakarta – Vice Chairman of Commission VI DPR RI Andre Rosiade again went directly to help residents affected by flash floods in Padang by distributing hundreds of basic food packages as well as following up on aspirations to restore bridges and clean water networks. Andre visited Jambak Village, Batipuh Panjang Subdistrict, Koto Tangah District to provide hundreds of basic food packages as well as IDR 10 million in cash allocated to buy new cooking utensils for the residents. Many residents’ equipment was completely damaged due to homes submerged in floodwaters. This assistance was received directly by Syabri community leaders and was warmly welcomed by residents. “We are very grateful to Mr. Andre. This assistance really eases the burden on the residents. Moreover, he came directly, saw our condition and heard the complaints of the people here,” Syabri said in a written statement, Friday (12/12/2025). Residents should not be left without security for months,” said Andre. One of the urgent aspirations expressed by residents is the breaking of the Kampung Jambak suspension bridge. In response, Andre immediately contacted the mayor of Padang, Fadly Amran, and asked that bridge repairs be immediately proposed to the National Roads Office, Ministry of Public Works (PU). Padang Mayor Fadly Amran said he immediately suggested it to the center and asked Andre to help oversee the budget. He said there was a lot of infrastructure damage due to the flash floods on November 27-28, 2025. He asked residents to be patient as the government was working. “The damage to the bridge due to the disaster, the repair work did not use the Padang City APBD. Therefore, I asked the Padang City Government to immediately make a proposal to the Central Government. I am ready to supervise it until the budget is reduced and construction can begin,” stressed Andre. Apart from the bridge, residents also complained about the closure of the clean water network of Perumda Air Minum or PDAM. André answered this and brought good news. He confirmed that the central government has sent new pipe assistance through the Cipta Karya Center on the instructions of President Prabowo. Improvements will be made soon, but it will take time. “The new pipe is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. But residents should be a little patient because the installation and connection is estimated to take five days. God willing, the water will flow normally again in one week,” said Andre. Andre emphasized his commitment to continue to ensure that the improvement process goes without obstacles. “We will continue to monitor. What is important is that the community regains access to clean water and the bridge that is the lifeblood of their mobility can function immediately,” he continued. Meanwhile, Andre said he would also send a water tanker to residents. “God willing, we will send a water tank today to meet the daily water needs. Hopefully we can get through this well and return to normal,” he concluded. (acd/ega)
